Suitable for:

Personnel looking to gain a position within the Oil and Gas Industry or experienced NDT Technicians who wish to gain formal certification for visual inspection of components for in-service deterioration.

A two-week training course is available for personnel who do not have twelve months relevant offshore experience conducting visual inspections on process pipe-work. A one-week training course is available for mature candidates who hold three EN473 L2 NDE approvals and have twelve months offshore experience conducting visual inspection.

Course Content:

The topics covered include:
  • Background knowledge of the structures to be inspected
  • Introduction to weld inspection
  • Introduction to corrosion processes
  • Review of reporting systems
  • Review of relevant legislation
  • Introduction to coating inspection

The assessments include weld inspection, visual and dimensional assessments of relevant samples together with coating inspection. Successful candidates will be issued with the appropriate CSWIP certification.

Training in accordance with the requirements of BS EN ISO 9712.

This course is a pivotal step for the NDT Inspector or Engineer looking to follow a career path leading to Offshore Inspection Engineer or Integrity Engineer and is integrated into the CSWIP Plant Inspector Scheme which has now a modular approach.

One year offshore experience and three ISO 9712 Level 2 NDT approvals.

To be awarded the CSWIP Offshore Visual Inspector (OVI) certificate, candidates must pass both the OVI and the CSWIP Visual Welding Inspector examination. Candidates who hold a current valid CSWIP Visual Welding Inspector, Welding Inspector or Senior Welding Inspector qualification will be exempt this part of the examination.
