As a company that trains more than 26,000 people each year, in around 30 countries
worldwide, TWI often works with candidates whose first language is not English.
TWI Training programme manager David Bage (pictured, second from left) recently
delivered a CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector course at TWI’s office in Thailand, and
gave special consideration to potential language issues.
‘Courses in South East Asia are normally one day longer, to take into account extra
time needed for any language issues,’ David explained.
‘On this particular course that extra time proved very useful. The group of students
actually featured three different nationalities, and none of the candidates spoke
English as their first language.
‘It was rewarding to overcome these potential difficulties, and I found the experience
invaluable in learning how our existing materials can be further developed, and
some additional things to keep in mind when planning new courses.’
All candidates successfully gaining
CSWIP 3.1 certification, will receive an internationally recognised qualification
with the potential to lead to a rewarding and varied career anywhere in the world.
