TWI South East Asia achieves Approved Training Body Status

TWI South East Asia achieves Approved Training Body Status

On 8th July 2013 TWI Technology (S.E Asia) Sdn Bhd (TWI SEA) achieved Approved Training Body (ATB) status from TWI Certification Ltd (TWI CL), the latter being the IIW Authorised National Body (ANB) for Malaysia. TWI CL has been nominated the ANB for Malaysia by the Welding Institute of Malaysia (WIM), which is the member society representing Malaysia in the IIW. This approval has been endorsed by the Certification Management Board of TWI CL.

Historically TWI has offered training and examinations in South East Asia since 1979, and in 1993 established this facility in Kuala Lumpur. The modern facilities are ideally suited to the learning environment for courses offered and reflect the needs of Malaysia and the rest of the South East Asia region. Several remote training centres across South East Asia also provide venues for IIW courses that are facilitated by TWI SEA lecturers. TWI (SE Asia) at Selangor and Johor Bahru has operated as the approved training and examining centre for TWI TES for the CSWIP, CIDB and IIW/EWF Diploma programmes, but now they form an autonomous ATB for the IIW/EWF Diploma programmes. The policy of TWI SEA is to manage and promote the IIW Diploma programmes in accordance with the rules and guidelines established by the International Authorisation Board (IAB) of the International Institute of Welding (IIW). It also complies with the terms and conditions set by the ANB for Malaysia, the scope of ATB operations and activities as approved by the ANB, and the training and examination services procedures revised and established during the extensive audit recently undertaken by TWI CL. The team at TWI SEA are proud of their ATB status and courses for the IIW Diploma’s at Specialist (foundation) or IWS/EWS, Technologist (intermediate) or IWT/EWT and Engineer (advanced) or IWE/EWE levels. A special thank you is extended from Mr Ernie Moskini, SEA Regional Manager, to Mr Desmond Yeap, Executive Director of WIM, and Dr Stephen Roe of TWI CL for their contribution in assisting SEA gain ATB status.
