TWI Training Launches New Blended Learning Courses in MT/PT
About Blended Learning
Our blended learning packages provide a mixture of eLearning and classroom-based training, meaning that you can study in your own time and at your own pace, yet still be able to gain the benefits of training with one of our expert lecturers. This provides a more flexible learning experience for you or your employees.
Of course, we understand that the global Coronavirus situation means that we are all having to adapt at the moment, and TWI Training is continuing to look at ways in which we can support you.
Why study MT and PT as Blended Learning?
Magnetic particle and penetrant testing are the normal starting points for a career in NDT.
These new NDT blended learning courses supplement the ultrasonic testing, phased array and time of flight diffraction blended learning options that are already available, rounding out your NDT expertise.
By taking the blended learning option for these courses, you will reduce the time spent in the classroom by half. This means less time away from your job, while also being able to study the theories in your own time before attending one of our venues for the practical elements. This combined study will prepare you for the CSWIP EN ISO 9712 examination, which you will take while at one of our venues. Those taking the combined MT/PT course will undertake both practical elements and exams in the same week.
These courses are also available as appreciation courses to simply help you understand more about the testing methods themselves.
Course Details
The course details will differ slightly, depending on whether you take the single MT and PT courses or the combined option, as below:
Magnetic particle testing (MT) blended learning package:
The MT Level 2 eLearning training courses consist of two main modules:
- Module 1: Product Technology
- Module 2: Magnetic Particle Testing Theory
The above eLearning modules are followed up with the classroom-based element of the course, which includes two days of practical training and a certification exam in one of TWI’s training facilities.
Penetrant testing (PT) blended learning package:
The PT Level 2 eLearning training courses consists of two main modules:
- Module 1: Product Technology
- Module 2: Penetrant Testing Theory
The above eLearning modules are followed up with the classroom-based element of the course, which includes two days of practical training and a certification exam in one of TWI’s training facilities.
Combined MT/PT blended learning package:
The MT/PT Level 2 eLearning training courses consists of three main modules:
- Module 1: Product Technology
- Module 2: Magnetic Particle Testing Theory
- Module 3: Penetrant Testing Theory
The eLearning modules are then followed by practical classroom training in both PT and MT as well as certification exams at one of TWI’s training facilities. This classroom-based training and the certification exams will be completed in one week.
Resources
TWI will provide resources to assist you with your training, including downloadable course notes, explanations of the underlying theories, self-assessment questionnaires so you can track your progress and a coursework section with questions on general and specific theory.

Upcoming eLearning
