TWI’s Regional General Manager, India, is guest of honour at Institute’s inauguration

Jim Kerins, TWI’s Regional General Manager, India, was invited as a guest of honour to the inauguration of the Gedee WIM Institute of Welding Technology in Coimbatore, India on Friday 14th February 2014. Speaking as a representative of one of the world’s largest welding, welding inspection and non-destructive testing training organisation, Jim addressed the audience about industry’s need for a trained, skilled and competent workforce, and the abundance of opportunities and career paths available within this field.

This Institute is a unique, Indo-Malaysian project, launched as a joint venture between Gedee Technical Training Institute (a unit of G D Naidu Charities), Coimbatore and Welding Industries Malaysia, Sdn. Bhd. (WIM), delivering training in all welding processes. The 5,000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility is comparable to any premier welding institution in the world and houses advanced technology equipment. The technical support is provided by WIM, and the curriculum and syllabus have been jointly designed by Gedee and WIM based on over four decades of experience in the manufacturing sector.

Many industrialists and corporate executives attended the ceremony, and other guests of honour included Mr Leong Keng Wan, Chairman WIM Group, Malaysia and Mr G D Gopal, Chairman, G D Group, Coimbatore, Mr Kathirvelu, Regional Joint Director, Employment and Training, Government of India, Coimbatore, Mr Somenath Ghosh, Executive Council Member, Indian Institute of Welding (IIW), Kolkatta and Mr M Nasser, Cine Artist and Skill Developer.

Gedee WIM Institute of Welding Technology has been approved by the Indian Institute of Welding as one of their Authorised Training Institutes (ATI).
