The first CSWIP Welding Quality Control Co-ordinator course will take place in Abington, UK on 23 - 27 August (4 days training and 1 day examination).
The next course is scheduled for 27 Sept - 1 October in Middlesbrough. It will be followed by a November course (venue to be dependent on student location demand).
As mentioned in our Nov/Dec 2009 newsletter, the qualification is a natural career progression for experienced inspection personnel who wish to demonstrate their level of competence in the field of Quality Control Management.
Muhazemir Kamarudin represented Malaysia and won Gold Medal in the MySkills - ASEAN Competition which took place recently at the Centre for Instructor and Advanced Skill Training (CIAST) in Shah Alam, Malaysia. SAPREF

Southern Africa; it is South African owned but operates in a joint
venture producing fuel and bi-products for both Shell and BP.
SAPREF contacted TWI Training & Examinations Services to train
fifteen inspection engineers and technicians in Radiographic
Interpretation. The candidates' prior engineering background and
experience meant that the duration of the training could be reduced
from two weeks to seven days (56 hours).
Philippines Society for Safety Professionals (PSSP) in the United Arab Emirates celebrated its third anniversary in May in Abu Dhabi. The
standard EN ISO 3834, Quality requirements for fusion welding of
metallic materials, is referenced by existing and emerging standards
for welded products, such as EN 15085 for railway vehicles and
components, and EN 1090 for steel and aluminium structures, and is
being increasingly specified in contract requirements.
Through presentation and group exercises, this two-day course
provides a review of the ISO 3834 series of standards and their
relevance to fabrication and manufacture by welding, and takes
delegates through the processes used to establish compliance with
ISO 3834, including compliance of welding co-ordination personnel
with ISO 14731.

It has come to our attention that some companies are calling themselves' TWI agents' or are advertising 'TWI courses or training' when they should not. An up-to-date list of approved TWI training agents is available at http://www.twi.co.uk/content/twi_trainagents.html or on the training site www.twitraining.com under each geographic area.
