IIW/EWF Welding Diploma - Routes to QualificationStandard route In this route, awarding of a diploma is subject to completing all the modules and passed exams for any given level. For example, specialist level must complete six courses, and engineer level must complete all fourteen courses. Alternative route This alternative allows those who have gained knowledge and can demonstrate their capability in all respects, as required by the guideline, to proceed through a quicker process without necessarily attending the training courses. There is flexibility in the alternative route. For example, a candidate who can demonstrate knowledge and capability covering part o the syllabus may be able to gain exemption from those parts of the course. In all cases, however, the full examinations are required. It should be stressed that the alternative route is not "easier" than the standard (attendance of the full course).
