TWI has reviewed and streamlined the scheduling of many parts of its underwater training and certification programme, improving the timescales and upgrading the material for this highly regarded range of courses.
The new streamlined course offers underwater inspection training in-line with current offshore engineering practice. Each of the 3.1U and 3.2U courses lasts six consecutive days (Monday through Saturday) including the final CSWIP examination. Effective training time has actually been increased and the complete course has been upgraded with the help of a number of very experienced diving personnel.
TWI has for many years offered the IIW/EWF Welding Engineering Diploma and many candidates have successfully completed this course.
Some potential customers with vast experience have however been frustrated by the high level of academic qualifications required to join this programme. Due to the industry shortage of qualified welding engineers, TWI is promoting the TWI Diploma in Welding Engineering. Unlike the current IIW/EWF Welding Engineer Diploma, the TWI Diploma in Welding Engineering entry requirements are based on applicants' experience and knowledge rather than academic qualifications, but the course content and examinations are at the same technical levels.
In the current economic climate, people are viewing career development as an essential investment into their future.
Our Customer Services around the world have noticed a marked increase in the number of career advice requests from people interested in a career in welding inspection and NDT. Current CSWIP certificate holders who have seen significant benefits in holding a CSWIP qualification and want to move further along their chosen career path, have also contacted us.
The market for phased array ultrasonic training is developing rapidly on a global basis. A large number of candidates come from inspection companies who, because of the nature of their business, often have an urgent requirement for courses at very short notice.
In order to service the huge demand for TWI phased array courses and offer clients far more flexibility in the scheduling of these courses, TWI has recruited two additional experienced lecturers to be based in the Middle East and South East Asia regions.
