The 'Certification Scheme for Welding and Inspection Personnel' is a personal certification scheme that has been in existence for over 40 years. It is governed by the CSWIP Management Committee, which carefully controls the certification scheme.
The scheme title cites 'Inspection Personnel' and with Non-Destructive Testing now an integral part of any inspection regime both in manufacturing and the through life monitoring of any structure or component with safety concerns, the CSWIP scheme is a leading certification scheme encompassing all the major methods of NDT.
TWI continues to offer a comprehensive training and examination service in India. These courses which have been run for many years include welding inspection and plant and painting inspection.
Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Visakhapatnam, Tiruchirapalli and Kochi are key venues at which very successful TWI courses are run several times each year.
During the last quarter of 2008, TWI Middle East delivered courses for the first time in Tunisia.
Two CSWIP Welding Inspector courses and one BGAS-CSWIP Painting Inspector course were delivered for different clients in Sfax, Tunisia. Nearly all of the candidates were Arabic or French speakers and were not fluent in English. However, with the assistance of translators and also by allowing more teaching time, all three courses were delivered successfully.
TWI is very pleased to announce the opening of its sixth centre in UK in collaboration with ITCL at Ellesmere Port. TWI and ITCL are now working together to provide a range of international courses and examinations in this propose built facility.
We are delighted to be working with ITCL and pleased that this new opening extends TWI's regional support for our many customers.
Welding Coordinator is a TWI software programme developed to manage production welding. It automates what is currently managed by a lot of fabricators using paper-based systems.
As planning and fabrication progresses, information about welding is entered into the system, such as weld IDs, materials, WPSs, welders, NDE, etc. The system then gives information including automatic progress reports, NDE requisitions, project data books, welder performance reports and productivity reports.
