This course is suitable for you if you wish to move into pipeline inspection and gain the BGAS-CSWIP Pipeline Welding Inspection Certificate to demonstrate your capabilities.

What will I learn?

This course will cover welding processes, pipeline construction, consumables, procedures, welding defects, specifications, and the mechanical testing of welds. You will also learn about radiographic interpretation, joint preparation, heat affected zones, preheat and postheat, and weld repairs. The course also offers you code interpretation, exam practice questions, and the practical inspection of welds/fit-ups/fittings.

What will I leave with?

By the end of the course, you should be able to:

  • Understand the principles of pipe welding
  • Identify materials and consumables
  • Undertake visual inspections
  • Interpret requirements of standards
  • Pass the BGAS-CSWIP examination

What else should I know?

You MUST bring:

  • 2 passport sized photographs
  • A valid eyesight certificate from a doctor or an optician showing satisfactory eyesight for near vision, permitting reading a minimum of Times Roman N5, or equivalent type and size letters, at not less than 300mm on a standard test chart for near vision, in at least one eye, corrected or uncorrected. Candidates will be required to have had a colour perception assessment by the Ishihara 24 plate test or equivalent.
  • A completed application form and full examination fee

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
The minimum duration for industrial experience prior to or following success in the qualification examination is 1 month, showing knowledge of welding processes, pipeline construction and welding defects.
