Is it for me?

This course is for you if you are a currently or previously approved 3.4U Inspection Controller, a currently or previously approved CSWIP 3.1U or 3.2U Diver, a surface practitioner certificated under PCN or CSWIP, or qualified in a relevant engineering science.

What will I learn?

This course will teach you about welding product technology, electrical and electromagnetic theory, ACFM detection - identification of longitudinal and transverse cracks, and instruction writing. You will also be taught level 2 software commands, sizing for length and depth, reporting, and backing-up data.

The training is in accordance with the requirements of ISO 9712 and ends with the certification examination.

What will I leave with?

By the end of the course, you should be able to:

  • Explain the theoretical principles
  • Carry out equipment functioning checks
  • Locate and size surface breaking fatigue cracks on uncoated and coated steel welds
  • Gain eligibility to sit CSWIP EMD examinations

Please note proof of experience and identity will be required prior to the training.

You can only attempt one examination as part of the package.
