CSWIP Plant Inspection training programme launches in Abu Dhabi in September 2012A recent study by TWI highlighted the industry's need for plant inspection personnel to gain certification in plant integrity management. TWI responded to this by offering an internationally recognised CSWIP Plant Inspection training scheme in a modular format at three competency levels (1,2 and 3), giving prospective students the opportunity to follow a clearly defined and structured career path. These modules have been run successfully in the UK, South East Asia and Turkey and are now available in Abu Dhabi.

The scheme is designed to suit plant inspectors working for manufacturing works (Vendor), inspection organisations, equipment owners and operators, classification societies, insurance companies and safety regulators. The courses have three goals:

  • To ensure inspectors and engineers responsible for plant integrity have the essential tools and skills necessary to assess plant safety
  • To recognise and certify plant inspector competence
  • To provide a structured path for continuing professional development of plant integrity practitioners through formal training/certification.

CSWIP Plant Inspection trainingLevel 1 consists of two 5-day modules and can be accessed from various routes: NDT and/or welding inspection route or direct entry.
10-14 September - Part A - Rules/Regulations and Duties of the Plant Inspector
Part A consists of the legislation, rules and regulations governing inspection, the roles and duties of the Plant Inspector and the inspection of materials as well as an introduction to engineering materials, NDT and visual examination of welds.
17-21 September - Part B - Inspection Methods
Part B consists of the use of codes and standards, the creation of inspection reports and the inspection of a variety of structures, as well as an introduction to risk based inspection.

Students must attend Part A before attending Part B.
