New inspection and training facilities for TWI's partner in Nigeria
TWI's partner in Nigeria, Inspection and Tests Nigeria Limited (ITL), recently opened
a new inspection and training facility in Port Harcourt. The 8,100 square metre
facility consists of a large, walled compound containing first class resources for
classroom-based training and workshop-based welder training, as well as provision
for mechanical testing and radiographic inspection.
TWI has recognised the potential for delivering world class training in the region
and is supporting ITL with the secondment of one of TWI's most experienced trainers,
Tom Woolhouse. As well as first-hand experience of TWI's welding research, Tom is
also qualified to deliver TWI's globally recognised welding inspection courses and
welder training.
Dr Chris Peters, TWI's Global Training and Examination Services Manager attended
the opening on the 12 December 2011, along with local dignitaries including His
Royal Highness Eze G.B, Wodi (JP) Eze Elelenwo Etor, ITL's CEO, Sam Azoka Onyechi
and other distinguished guests and representatives of the press.
This initiative will provide a valuable service to industry in the region and will
be a vehicle for upskilling Nigeria's workforce to become competitive in the local
and global workplace.
