Second visit to TWI in the UK for Angolan students

Second visit to TWI in the UK for Angolan students On the 29th February 2012, seven trainees of Wood Group Kianda based in Angola, celebrated successfully completing a customised CSWIP 3.0 Level 1 welding inspection course. Both Wood Group Kianda and TWI were happy to announce that all candidates had achieved certification.

Wood Group Kianda has invested in an on-going programme to up-skill and to train their employees in Angola, one of Africa's largest oil producing and fastest growing countries. This was their second visit to TWI in the UK.

When the group visited TWI previously, the focus was on welding processes, practical and theory which nicely complemented their homeland based academic and site based training. Once the group had completed their CSWIP Level 1 training and examination they then moved on to field exercises, assessing welds on vessels, pipes and other fabricated pieces of equipment to give the candidates a greater appreciation of a welding inspector's duties in the field.

The successful candidates now hold an internationally recognised qualification and can be confident that they have the right skills to do the job correctly and safely.
