TWI hosts Malaysian Government Minister
On 29 July in Cambridge, UK with the support of the Malaysian Government, an historic
agreement was signed between MARA a leading Malaysian skills establishment, and
TWI through its subsidiary TWISEA.
A Memorandum of Understanding and a Memorandum of Agreement were signed between
the two organisations which will see the establishment of a Regional Innovation
Centre for Joining and Structural Integrity at Universiti Kuala Lumpur. It will
act as the hub for delivery of support services to industry across Malaysia through
applied research and development and the transfer of best international practice
in manufacturing technologies.
YB Dato' Seri Haji Mohd Shafie bin Haji Apdal, the Minister of Rural and Regional
Development expressed his enthusiasm for the project to which he has given his backing
saying that it will be a force of good for the future.
The Minister was given a tour of the TWI facility during his visit and saw for himself
the range of training and technologies which are undertaken at the Great Abington
site.
