The new training centre, the result of a partnership between TWI and Profi-Resurs
Professional Training Centre, is located in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku.
Equipped with 15 welding bays, the centre offers training programmes in welding
processes including SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, flux core and submerged, with courses ranging
in length from one week to three months.
Course content is typically 30 per cent theory and 70 per cent practical, and training
is available to cover welding of materials including carbon steel, aluminium alloy,
low-alloy steel and polymers. Welders who successfully complete the training will
be awarded internationally recognised CSWIP certificates.
The opening of the centre should provide a boost to welding capability in the region,
as graduates of the school leave equipped for jobs in sectors including oil and
gas, aerospace, power and construction.
It represents the latest development in the ongoing growth of the availability of
TWI Training and Examinations courses globally.
As well as the courses provided at the new welder training school, TWI Azerbaijan
is able to provide off-the-shelf and tailor-made courses to meet the needs of individuals
and organisations working in the oil and gas sector in the area. Alongside welding
engineering and inspection, courses are available covering NDE inspection, corrosion
inspection and plant inspection.
