Engineers from TWI’s Cambridge base headed to Australia in September to deliver
training to professionals from the oil and gas sector.
The training, which took place in Perth, focused on the practical applications of
BS 7910, a standard code of practice for the assessment of flaws using fracture
Delegates on the course included representatives of major oil and gas corporations
active in the Perth region, which is an area of growth for the sector, as well as
two who travelled down from Vietnam.
Friendly locals, good weather and occasional visits from amiable kangaroos made
the course an enjoyable and memorable experience for everyone involved.
The course ‘Structural Integrity Assessment and Practical Application of BS 7910
Procedures for the Assessment of Flaws in Metallic Structures’ imparted knowledge
that will be crucial for the delegates when assessing the fitness for service of
welds in offshore installations.
