Watch this space for new online delivery of CPD
The Welding Institute is investing in and rolling out new methods of continuing
professional development (CPD) for both its members and CSWIP holders and would
welcome your views on how it can expand its methods to help you with your CPD recording
and delivery.
As a member and/or CSWIP holder you are required to keep your skills and knowledge
up-to-date. Recording your CPD and engaging in professional development turns learning
accountability into a positive opportunity to identify and achieve individual career
objectives. CPD will help to keep your skills up-to-date and prepare you for greater
responsibilities. It can boost individual confidence, strengthen professional credibility
and help you become more creative in tackling new challenges. It can accelerate
career development and offer social and business access to individual professionals
and networks. CPD is also an integral important part of upgrading to chartered and/or
professional membership and The Welding Institute is happy to advise on career plans
for each of our members individual aspiration.
To further develop CPD opportunities, two new branches have been opened: one in
Dubai, UAE and one in Inverness, Scotland and we will soon be delivering WJS activities
in India. The Professional website
is being reviewed at present and an online CPD tool is being integrated into the
site thus making planning, updating and recording your IPD/CPD easier. Watch the
newsletter and website for more information on this and for new networks opening
near you.
As a professional body, The Welding Institute is committed to creating new CPD services
for members and investing in new online services. Some members have already participated
in our online webinars/workshops which are being run monthly for the global community.
These and lectures will soon be available on its new website. For details of past
and future events, please email and members will be provided with a link to any
of these workshops and webinars until they are live on the web.
A series of LinkedIn forums where members can exchange views and ask questions are
also being created.
