CSWIP 3.1 - Welding Inspector - Level 2 launches in Kathmandhu, Nepal

TWI Training & Examinations ran its first welding inspection course in Kathmandhu, Nepal, through its agent the Institute of Inspection Technology and NDT Resources. The course was completed on the 1st November 2012 with a total of eight candidates.

CSWIP 3.1 - Welding Inspector - Level 2 is designed for inspection engineers and supervisory staff. The course is ideal for inspectors requiring preparation for the CSWIP examinations - Welding Inspector. By the end of the course, candidates should be able to understand factors which influence the quality of fusion welds in steels, and recognise characteristics of commonly used welding processes in relation to quality control. They should also be able to interpret drawing instructions and symbols to ensure that specifications are met. The course teaches candidates to set up and report on inspection of welds, macrosections and other mechanical tests; assess and report on welds to acceptance levels; confirm that incoming material meets stipulated requirements; and recognise the effects on weld quality of departure from specification. At the end of the course, candidates sit a CSWIP examination, which leads to the internationally recognised CSWIP certification.

The Institute of Inspection Technology and NDT Resources currently operates on behalf of TWI from registered offices in the southern part of India and its expansion into Nepal has enabled it to deliver inspection training to the Nepalese people as well as CSWIP 3.1 - Welding Inspector - Level 2. Welding Inspector – Level 2 courses for the coming year have been scheduled for 25t February, 29t April, 1 July, 30t September and 4t November 2013.
