Malaysia upskills low income students with TWI NDT course

TWI South East Asia has received great feedback from students participating in a training program as part of a skills development scheme to enable lower income young Malaysians to benefit from world-class training.

Young people in Malaysia were given an opportunity to be selected for a fully funded TWI South East Asia (TWI S.E.A) training package after the Malaysian government identified a need to support a new generation of workers with minimal qualifications and low income.

The Skills Development Fund Corporation B40 program at TWI offered a fully sponsored non-destructive testing CSWIP course, including ultrasonic weld testing, magnetic particle and penetrant testing.

Candidates were carefully selected from over 100 applicants nationwide through interview sessions and background checks to get an opportunity to train with TWI S.E.A. Two of the students commented:

’At the TWI training programme I learnt a lot about welding and non-destructive testing. These courses will be a foundation for my career as a mechanical engineer. The lecturers and staff were so helpful. TWI S.E.A has tremendous equipment and facilities. I hope there will be more candidates for this program in the future.’
