TWI training in the Caspian Sea region received a boost with the running of welding inspection and NDE courses in Kazakhstan

TWI is delighted to announce the successful completion of the first welding course to be taught in its new training centre in Kazakhstan.

A group of candidates completed the Welding Inspector Level 2 course leading to CSWIP 3.1 in December last year, becoming the first class of students to receive training in the new facility.

The centre has opened as the result of a partnership with local training organisation Caspian Training Solutions (CTS). Located in Atyrau, a city at the mouth of the Ural River on the northern coast of the Caspian Sea, it offers courses covering a wide range of welding and inspection disciplines.

Among the programmes available are courses in welding engineering, welding inspection, NDE inspection, corrosion inspection, health and safety, welder training and plant inspection.

As well as welcoming candidates to the training centre for teaching at the venue, trainers are also available to visit companies in the region to deliver training – either a standard course or one customised around the client’s needs – directly to them.

Candidates who successfully complete training courses from the centre will be awarded internationally recognised CSWIP certificates, which demonstrate a high level of competence in their area of work.

The opening of the Kazakhstan training centre comes at the same time as TWI announced the establishment of a similar facility in Baku, Azerbaijan, on the western coast of the Caspian Sea. Both centres have been founded in response to high demand for skilled engineers in the region, which is a major centre for oil and gas production. They join a growing network of TWI offices around the world. As well as the oil and gas industry, courses have also been designed to provide value to the aerospace, construction, power and automotive sectors.
