Apprenticeships Scheme for Newly Employed
We have renewed our collaboration with Skills Training UK for the delivery of the ‘Materials Testing’ apprenticeship programme, which includes Level 2 NDT Operator and Level 3 NDT Engineering Technician courses delivered by TWI.
Programme completion will lead to internationally recognised Level 2 certificate in NDT by CSWIP NDT or PCN, in addition to the skills and experience gained during the programme.
Our experience in delivering online learning courses transitions well with the apprenticeship learning syllabus, while TWI’s Industrial Member companies offer the perfect platform for the apprenticeship scheme.
For the apprentices themselves, the benefits include being able to learn in a real working environment while also saving on fees compared with a traditional academic degree course.
The apprenticeship levy means that apprentices aged 16-18 years old will have their costs 100% funded by the government.
For older apprentices, small to medium-sized businesses (SMEs) will only be asked to cover 10% of the costs, while those larger companies who have already spent their apprenticeship levy funds will also be asked to pay just 10%.
Removing the cost for apprentices provides social mobility while also ensuring that the next generation of NDT specialists have the skills desired by employers to support across the engineering, nuclear, oil and gas, automotive and aerospace industries to deliver high-quality infrastructure and projects across the UK.
Speaking on the NDT apprenticeship programme, Ricardo Franckeiss, training manager at Sheffield Forgemasters International Ltd, said, “The programme is well structured and well organised and, from the outset, the tutors that we work with are clearly very experienced and knowledgeable in their disciplines in NDT and Lean manufacturing principles.”
