If you're looking forward to working in the inspection industry or the coating of pipelines, whether new builds or existing infrastructure, a course that combines rigorous standards with hands-on training is essential. The BGAS-CSWIP Site Coatings Inspector course offers you just that. Whether you are new to the field or an already established individual in site coatings inspection, this course is designed to help you reach new heights.
Who Do You Think Can Take This Course?
- Anyone wishing to earn BGAS-CSWIP Approval as a Site Coatings Inspector
- Professionals who already inspect or apply coatings to pipelines
- Even welding inspectors (this certification can broaden your scope of work on pipeline projects)
You may take the course with or without previous experience in coatings work, although industrial experience is required.
The course content is broad and thorough. Some of the topics covered include corrosion and coating technology fundamentals, surface preparation - methods, standards, and dealing with contaminants, how to test and detect coating faults and defects as well as a variety of coating types and systems: coal tar enamels, hot-applied tapes, cold-applied laminate tapes, grease-based tapes, polyethylene claddings, urethane coatings, concrete and internal coatings, etc. It also includes holiday detection, quality assurance, handling, transport & storage, pipeline construction stages, plus health & safety practices.
Course Structure
It is typically a four-day training course, with the exam on fifth day. For candidates with prior relevant experience (for instance those already approved as BGAS-CSWIP Paint Inspectors), day one will cover material they may already have the knowledge about. Attendance on that day is optional in such cases but, the course fee remains the same.
