- Specified painting conditions

- Health and safety and working practices

Candidates also develop their understanding of paint systems, methods of application and testing, paint-system inspection and the interpretation of relevant standards.
A route towards BGAS-CSWIP certification
This four-day training course is followed by an examination on day five, with less experienced candidates able to take the examination the following week. The programme is designed to meet the syllabus requirements for the BGAS-CSWIP Painting Inspector Examination. Candidates can take the course whether or not they already have experience in the painting inspection industry. However, certification has specific experience requirements.
A minimum of six months' industrial experience demonstrating knowledge of dry abrasive blast cleaning or industrial paint application techniques is required. This experience can be gained either before or after successfully completing the examination. Where experience is gained afterwards, examination results remain valid for two years.
Note for UK candidates: TWI also highlights that certification will not be issued until the required experience has been evidenced, so candidates should familiarise themselves with the requirements before booking.
