Delegates Begin CSWIP Welding Inspector eLearning Package
The latest CSWIP Welding Inspector PLUS Theory Pre-course eLearning course got underway at TWI's Cambridge premises on Monday, 17 August, welcoming four delegates as they begin their training towards CSWIP Welding Inspector certification.
The package is designed to give candidates a strong grounding in welding inspection theory before they progress to the full classroom-based course. Rather than arriving at the classroom stage with all of the theory still to cover, candidates can work through the online material in advance, building their knowledge and identifying areas where they may need further guidance.
The eLearning package covers 11 core modules, taking candidates through the duties of a welding inspector, codes and standards, welding terminology, defects and symbols, electricity in welding, destructive and non-destructive testing, weldability of steels, heat treatment and welding equations.
Learning at your own pace
One of the advantages of the PLUS package is the flexibility it provides before classroom training. Candidates have 60 days of access to complete the eLearning, allowing them to work through the modules at a pace that suits their existing commitments. Progress can be tracked through the platform, while module assessments provide opportunities to check understanding and revisit areas that need more attention.
The learning doesn't have to stop once a module has been completed. Within the access period, delegates can return to individual topics for revision and make a note of areas they would like to discuss further with their lecturer during the classroom course.
Building towards the classroom
For aspiring welding inspectors, preparation is an important part of getting the most from their training. The pre-course package provides an opportunity to establish the theoretical foundations first, allowing candidates to arrive at their classroom-based training ready to engage more deeply with the subject and practical application.
The programme is aimed at candidates who meet the relevant CSWIP entry requirements, including those with appropriate welding inspection experience or existing CSWIP qualifications and experience in relevant welding roles.
With four delegates now beginning their learning journey at TWI Cambridge, the latest course demonstrates the continued demand for structured pathways into professional welding inspection. We wish all delegates every success as they progress through their eLearning and look forward to welcoming them for the next stage of their CSWIP Welding Inspector training.
