Painting Inspector Grade 2 Training Begins in Middlesbrough

Protective coatings are essential to maintaining the safety, performance and longevity of industrial assets. From pipelines and offshore structures to manufacturing facilities and infrastructure, effective coating inspection plays a critical role in preventing corrosion and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Today marks the start of the latest BGAS-CSWIP Painting Inspector – Grade 2 course at TWI's Middlesbrough training centre, where delegates will spend the week developing the knowledge and practical understanding required to carry out painting inspection activities with confidence.

Designed for both newcomers and experienced professionals, the course provides comprehensive training in the principles of coating inspection and prepares candidates for the BGAS-CSWIP Painting Inspector Grade 2 examination. Throughout the programme, delegates will explore topics including corrosion theory, surface preparation, coating materials and application methods, inspection techniques, paint film testing, cathodic protection, defect identification, industry standards and health and safety practices.

By combining technical theory with practical inspection knowledge, the course helps candidates understand how protective coating systems are specified, applied and assessed to support asset integrity across sectors including oil and gas, energy, marine, infrastructure and manufacturing. Successful candidates will gain the knowledge required to evaluate coating systems, interpret relevant standards and carry out effective inspection activities in line with recognised industry practices.

As organisations continue to prioritise corrosion prevention and long-term asset performance, qualified painting inspectors remain in demand across a wide range of industries. Achieving BGAS-CSWIP Painting Inspector Grade 2 certification demonstrates technical competence and supports career development within coating inspection and quality assurance.

If you missed this week's course, further opportunities to attend the BGAS-CSWIP Painting Inspector – Grade 2 programme are scheduled later this year, including courses in October (Middlesbrough) and December (Cambridge).
