Pipeline Welding Inspector Course Delivered in Cambridge
TWI Training has been delivering the BGAS-CSWIP Pipeline Welding Inspector course this week at its Cambridge training centre, with the programme running from 9-13 March, 2026.
The course welcomed three candidates travelling from Chelmsford, Yorkshire and Bedfordshire, all undertaking the intensive programme designed to prepare professionals for inspection roles within pipeline construction and maintenance.
Delivered by lecturer Stephen Jones, the course combines classroom-based instruction with practical inspection knowledge to develop an understanding of pipeline welding inspection requirements. Over the duration of the programme, participants explored key topics including welding processes, pipeline construction methods, welding consumables and procedures, and the identification of welding defects.
The training also covers areas such as radiographic interpretation, joint preparation, heat-affected zones, preheat and post-heat requirements, and weld repair considerations, giving candidates a broader understanding of the factors influencing weld quality and pipeline integrity.
Alongside theoretical instruction, candidates are introduced to the practical inspection of welds, fittings and pipeline assemblies, helping them connect inspection principles with real-world pipeline construction practices.

The course concluded on 13 March, when candidates undertook the examination component of the programme. Successful completion supports professionals seeking to demonstrate competence in pipeline welding inspection and progress within pipeline integrity and inspection roles.
The BGAS-CSWIP certification schedule is widely recognised across pipeline industries and supports personnel responsible for ensuring that welding activities meet the required standards and specifications.
With small class sizes and expert instruction, the programme continues to provide a focused environment for professionals looking to strengthen their inspection knowledge and advance their careers in the pipeline sector.
