Richard Green, BGAS Programme Manager at TWI, has had a remarkable journey through engineering, education, and leadership. Beginning his career as a quality control inspector, he worked across industries including oil and gas, marine, and infrastructure, focusing on anti-corrosion treatments. His early qualifications, including the BGAS Site Coatings certification, were the start of a lifelong commitment to quality and innovation.

Twenty-five years ago, Richard discovered his passion for teaching, which transformed his career. As a lecturer, he honed his communication skills, engaging with people from diverse backgrounds worldwide. Over time, he took on roles as an examiner and scheme manager, developing robust competency assessments and managing international certification programmes. These experiences culminated in him leading the expansion of training provisions globally, including establishing operations in Dubai and transitioning courses to a blended learning format.

Richard’s connection with TWI began as a consultant trainer, where he appreciated the organisation’s ethos and forward-thinking approach. In 2024, he stepped into the BGAS Programme Manager role, bringing his expertise to modernise and grow the BGAS-CSWIP scheme. His leadership will ensured the programme’s global recognition, where courses now offered in over 20 countries and known for their comprehensive standards and UKAS accreditation.
