Structural Integrity/BS 7910 Course Now Online
In June, TWI will run its first online structural integrity assessment and BS 7910 procedures course.
With the changing ways of working due to the COVID-19 pandemic, TWI is holding a Zoom version of the popular ‘Structural Integrity Assessment and Practical Application of BS 7910 Procedures for the Assessment of Flaws in Metallic Structures’ course.
Previous attendees of the course have come from various backgrounds, including mechanical engineers, structural engineers and materials scientists, from Member and non-member companies of TWI, as well as postgraduate researchers.
This course includes:
- The concepts of fitness-for-purpose and engineering critical assessment (ECA), using lectures, informal discussion, quizzes, videos and software exercises
- The practical applications of fracture mechanics, covering brittle and ductile fracture, plastic collapse, fatigue crack growth and stress corrosion cracking
- Fracture and fatigue procedures in BS 7910, with an emphasis on how they are applied to welded structures
- The assessment of circumferential flaws in pipeline girth welds
- A range of relevant subjects related to BS 7910, e.g. failure case studies, non-destructive testing (inspection), materials properties, fracture toughness testing
- Practical training in fracture and fatigue assessments using CrackWISE software
- A firm foundation in the application of BS 7910 to the assessment of flaws using fitness-for-purpose methods
The course will be run over Zoom from 23 to 30 June 2021 (weekday mornings only) – find out more.
