TWI Indonesia joins first ever IVETS Training Summit

TWI's Global Training and Technical Services (GTTS) Principal Project Leader, Neil Harrap presented a talk about TWI's activities in Indonesia through the SEASEP project at the recent IVETS conference.

The two-day event, which took place on 9th - 10th October at Grand Mercure Harmoni, Jakarta, had the theme of 'Transforming Indonesia’s TVET System.' The aim of the event was to broaden the perspective of senior educators within Indonesia and the international training providers as well as encourage collaboration with the Association of Polytechnics and Industry.

Indonesia's President, Mr. Joko Widodo has set a target of building and developing the nation's vocational education over the next five years, which can be achieved through the involvement of both government and the private sector in a move towards the nation's independence and economic sovereignty.

Since 2018, TWI, in collaboration with Lloyd's Register Foundation, has been delivering sponsored training courses in Indonesia under the SEASEP programme. The aim of this initiative has been to upskill candidates from under-represented groups and provide them with skillsets that can aid them in their career progression while encouraging a safer working environment.

This was an excellent opportunity for Neil Harrap to meet Indonesia’s key industry players, elaborate on the SEASEP initiative and discuss the value that TWI can add to the TVET system in Indonesia.
