TWI Training Advances Offering with PA-CAT Collaboration

TWI Training recently joined forces with PA-CAT^TM and the man behind the technique, Paul Holloway, to deliver training courses on the inspection technique.

PA-CAT^TM is an advanced ultrasonic technique using phased arrays for the inspection and measurement of contact point corrosion under pipe support.

Key benefits of the technique include the following:

• It is quantitative - providing the corrosion profile of the inspection area
• Accuracy - the analysis algorithm was developed using laser scan data of real contact point corrosion
• Online analysis - PA-CAT^TM is an online analysis service where data subsets are easily exported from the instrument and submitted to the algorithm, with results available immediately
• Use existing equipment - users can use existing, commercially available equipment by major manufacturers

Paul Holloway spent a week at the TWI headquarters near Cambridge, UK, where he provided our NDT lecturers with ‘train the trainers’ sessions on the technique and the online analysis platform.

Our NDT training team is now ready to transfer the knowledge and provide this training at TWI training venues or at your premises.
