Why did a UK lecturer opt to be a Welding Institute Member?
Konstantinos Chronopoulos joined TWI in 2019 as a Senior Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Lecturer and is based in Cambridge, UK. He delivers a wide range of NDT courses, both conventional and advanced, such as Visual Testing (VT), Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Radiographic Testing (RT), Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) and Time of Flight Diffraction Testing (ToFD).
Shortly after joining TWI, Konstantinos joined The Welding Institute and achieved Incorporated Engineering (IEng) status, an internationally and legally recognised qualification, from the UK Engineering Council.
Professional Membership enables you to access The Welding Institute’s membership benefits, including a discount on TWI training courses and the ability to become professionally registered with the UK Engineering Council.
So, what benefits did Konstantinos see in joining The Welding Institute and becoming professionally registered?
This is what he said:
“I hope that my registration with the Engineering Council and The Welding Institute will help me improve my career prospects and employability.” He also acknowledged its ability” to demonstrate my professional attitude to any possible employer and to have an international recognition of competence within my job through the titles.”
Konstantinos added that the process was straightforward and that The Welding Institute’s membership team and support was excellent.
He concluded that professional registration is something that any professional engineer should consider, as the process is a great learning journey and allows you to reflect on your professional evolution.
Congratulations Konstantinos!
