Is it for me?

You will need to already hold the BGAS-CSWIP grades 3 and 2 in paint/painting inspection to enter this course, which offers an advanced qualification, dealing specifically with offshore practices.

What will I learn?

This course covers zones of offshore structures, offshore working, safety offshore, and medical, emergency procedures/escape routes. You will also learn about permit to work systems, vessel entry and enclosed space working, scaffolding, and fire protection. In addition, the course offers information on BS 5378 safety signs and colours, BS 1710 identification of pipelines, finish colour schedules BS 381C and BS 4800.

What will I leave with?

By the end of the course, you should be able to:

Recognise zones and structures of offshore platforms
Recognise the dangers and the safety precautions required when working offshore
Understand the importance and nature of fireproof coatings
Understand paint systems and their use for particular substrates and temperatures
Pass BGAS-CSWIP grade 1 examination
