Is it for me?

This course is ideal if you are looking to expand your current knowledge of radiographic systems and/or are looking at the possibility of introducing a digital system into your place of work/company.

What will I learn?

This course teaches the principles of digital radiography, equipment standards for CR systems, radiographic techniques with CR, and calibration of equipment (use of phantom). You will also learn about image processing using phosphor screens, software specific parameters, calibration of measuring tools, effects of magnification, and definition of accuracy constraints and capabilities of CR system. The course also covers modification of image, use of analysis software and reporting.

The training is in accordance with the requirements of BS EN ISO 9712 and ends with the certification exam.

What will I leave with?

By the end of the course, you should be able to:

  • Explain the theoretical background of digital radiography
  • Explain current standards with reference to CR systems
  • Calibrate a CR system using a phantom
  • Explain the image processing of phosphor screens
  • Use software specific parameters to assess a digital image
  • Recognise the constraints and capabilities of a CR system
  • Modify the digital image to optimise defect detection
  • Meet the syllabus requirements of Appendix E10 training and examinations PCN syllabus
