What will I learn?

In this comprehensive course on Ultrasonic Testing Thickness Measurement, you will learn the fundamental principles underlying sound, its generation, and detection, along with its behaviour within different materials. Through practical training sessions, you'll gain hands-on experience with flaw detectors and zero degree probes for wrought product inspection. Additionally, you'll explore various welding processes and learn to identify associated weld defects and it inspection limited to a theoretical level only. The course will include rigorous exercises on test specimens containing simulated flaws, enabling you to hone your skills in flaw detection and assessment.

The classroom sessions will cover a range of topics, including:
• Basic principles of sound generation and detection
• Behaviour of sound in different materials
• Understanding flaw detectors and their applications
• Practical exercises involving test specimens with simulated flaws
• Examination techniques for plates and welds
This intensive one-week course is tailored specifically for PCN certification and aligns with the requirements of ISO20807. The training culminates with a certification examination to validate your newfound expertise.

What will I leave with?

Upon completion of the course, you'll acquire a robust set of skills and knowledge essential for Ultrasonic Testing Thickness Measurement. You will be proficient in:
1. Explaining the theoretical background: You'll have a deep understanding of the theoretical foundations of ultrasonic testing techniques, allowing you to effectively apply them in real-world scenarios.
2. Calibrating ultrasonic equipment: You'll master the calibration process for ultrasonic equipment, ensuring accurate and reliable measurements. The training is conducted on flaw detectors using A-Scan.
3. Measuring the thickness of steel plates: Through practical exercises, you'll learn how to precisely measure the thickness of steel plates and determine levels of attenuation, essential for evaluating material integrity.
4. Locating and evaluating laminations: You'll develop the skills to locate and assess laminations within materials, crucial for identifying potential defects and ensuring structural integrity.
5. Reporting on the location and size of defects: You'll be adept at reporting findings accurately, including the precise location and size of defects detected during testing, facilitating informed decision-making in quality control processes.
