Is it for me?

The understanding of welding is essential for those involved in the material selection, design and fabrication of plastic moulded components.

Engineers working in high tech industries such as automotive, medical and domestic appliance, are required to design complex systems involving parts that may need to be welded or bonded.

The training available from TWI provides guidance and best practice on the welding of moulded plastic components.

What will I learn?

An introduction to plastics and welding principles.

Advantages and limitations, materials, welding parameters, equipment, joint design, applications for the following welding processes: hot plate, spin, infrared, ultrasonic, vibration and laser, and also hot air and ultrasonic staking.

Mechanical and non-destructive testing of welded joints.

What will I leave with?

Key information about the range of processes available for joining moulded parts.

A TWI Certificate of Attendance.

What else should I know?

The course duration comprises of two days either at your facilities or at TWI, Cambridge, or four half-day online sessions. Courses are only available for groups greater than 6 attendees .

This training is recognised by The Welding Institute for CPD.
