Suitable for:

The four-day course and one-day assessment for underwater welding to the international approved American Welding Society D3.6M Underwater Welding Specification. The course will provide the theoretical and practical application on how to weld underwater in the vertical (3F) position for those candidates that are certified to the flat (1F) position. Course includes the assessment and laboratory examination of the candidates’ test coupons by the surveying class society, Lloyd’s Register.

The course is intended for those personnel who are involved with the offshore oil and gas and maritime and related industries that require underwater welding of subsea structures/objects in a safe and professional manner to international benchmark standards.

This affiliated course is delivered in conjunction with TWI SEA at its state-of-the-art facilities in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The aim of this introductory course is for all participants to gain theoretical knowledge and practical competence in the following:

  • IMCA and OGP Benchmark Safety Guidelines
  • Risk assessment and MOC
  • Identifying welding anomalies
  • Types of underwater welding electrodes
  • Power and equipment requirements for underwater welding
  • Welding techniques
  • Troubleshooting
  • Post-maintenance of equipment
