TWI Training Delivers First-Ever 3.4U Online 'Live' Course
TWI Training has successfully delivered our first-ever 3.4U 'Live' online training course. The course was given to six students from India (five of which are employed by Fugro), using a mini-studio set up in a classroom to provide a 'live online' feel to the training.
The course was originally set to run on 1 June, but was pushed forward to May at the request of Fugro and TWI India. This was so that the students would be able to meet their offshore work commitments in time.
The course began with a week of theory training ahead of the practical elements of the training. The entire course was delivered remotely by the Virtual Academy using Zoom and Vimeo, which provided a relaxed atmosphere as the students were able to learn from the comfort of their own homes. The live online course offered the impression of being involved in a one-to-one course as each student was able to interact with the lecturer directly. The attendees were able to ask questions, exchange material and complete homework alongside the classroom learning.
Another benefit of the 'Live' online training method is that it saves money on training as there is no need to pay for travel or accommodation as is the case with in-person courses. Time saving was another positive for the trainees, who would otherwise have had to spend two weeks away from home to attend the course as one of our training centres. This is particularly beneficial to those who are already away from their families for a long period while working offshore.
The course was delivered with two lecturers (one for theory and one for practical), who were able to work in a familiar classroom environment. The communication between the lecturers and the students worked without any problems, allowing the attendees to improve their knowledge and progress their careers despite being thousands of miles away from the lecturers.
