Welding Inspection – Career Map
A qualification in CSWIP welding inspection from TWI can open doors to rewarding and varied careers anywhere in the world.
A welding inspector does not just inspect welds. They are required to have competence and knowledge of metallurgy, welding processes, destructive and non-destructive testing, welding consumables, welding procedures, welder qualifications, heat treatments and finding out the reason for the failure of welds.
While going through the career map you will see how the welding positions start from being a welder and lead to CSWIP visual welding inspector; it can also lead to CSWIP welding inspector with a minimum of 3 years visually inspecting welds. This post of CSWIP welding inspector can also be achieved directly from BGAS welding inspector or AWS welding inspector by bridging inspection leading to CSWIP welding quality control coordinator; however, that is not the only way to reach this position! You can get promoted from CSWIP welding inspector to CSWIP senior welding inspector and then become CSWIP welding quality control coordinator!
As a CSWIP senior welding inspector, you get to become a EWF/IIW specialist welding diploma holder, again this is another way directly from CSWIP welding inspector post through to the entry examination. You can get a chance for CSWIP certification of personnel reviewing welding procedures to ASME IX through an entry examination as well!
In addition to that, if you are an NDT technician with verified visual element and a minimum of 3 years visually inspecting welds, you can become a CSWIP welding inspector.
