Is it for me?

The CSWIP Senior Welding inspector is designed for those in a supervisory or quality control role. The access conditions are that you must hold a valid Welding Inspector qualification and to have held it for a minimum of two years. There are other routes which can be qualified by going to the CSWIP website at www.cswip.com
The eLearning material for this CSWIP Senior Welding Inspector Online course cuts down the classroom-based training days to a minimum so for those wishing to progress to examination, there will be a one day refresher training and one day examination only at one of our TWI approved training centres.
The online material as detailed below covers the theory element of the course and is approximately 35 hours of online learning content.
The material will be provided after you log on the site and a tutor will be assigned to help with any questions you may have.

What will I learn?

  • Various exercises on how to use the TWI Specification
  • A series of general knowledge tests
  • How to interpret welding symbols to EN standards
  • What to look for on an NDT report

With the online learning material, you can work through the 23 sections of this CSWIP Senior Inspector Online Course, at your own pace as you are given 60 days access with potential for extended access (fees apply)

You will be able to download the course notes, see and hear presentations, video, attempt course questions and work with an assigned tutor who will be there to support you along the way.

The course will be marked as complete once all of the sections have been completed and the home works have been passed, your tutor will advise of this.

On completion of the online, you will be required to attend a 1 day classroom refresher training followed by a 1 day examination for those qualifying which is part of this package.

The 23 sections cover:

  • How to use a specification followed by questions
  • Welded joint design and weld symbols then Homework 1
  • Weldability; brittle and fatigue failures and evaluate NDT reports then Homework 2
  • Welding procedures, residual stress and distortion, heat treatments and weld repairs then Homework 3 and 4 followed by a mock examination.

By the end of the course, you should be able to:

  • Know the importance of working to a specification and how to work to one 
  • Be able to interpret welding symbols on engineering drawings
  • Be able to evaluate NDT reports 
  • Know why heat treatments are so important
  • Know how and why brittle and fatigue fractures occur 
  • Appreciate why some joint designs are preferred over others 
  • Be in a position to pass the senior welding inspector examination

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Hold a valid Welding Inspector qualification for a minimum of 2 years

In addition to all the above, candidates must comply with Clause 1.3.4 of document WI-6-92 available at www.cswip.com

All experience will need to be verified by either your previous/present employer/company.

What happens next?
When you have booked your online course, you will receive an email notification with your login details. You will then have 60 days to complete your distance-learning course.
