This eLearning refresher course is ideal for you should you need to refresh your welding inspection theory prior to re-taking an examination or ahead of your CSWIP 10-year renewal examinations for Senior Welding Inspectors.

This eLearning option for the CSWIP Senior Welding Inspection theory refresher enables you to learn where and when you want, and at your own pace, tracking progress as you go. Online learning also eliminates the need for travel and accommodation, so you can save time and money.

What will I learn?

This course is designed to assist in the preparation for your initial examination resits or to prepare for your 10-year renewal resits. The eLearning package consists of eleven modules:
  • Module 1: Welding Defects - Types of welding defects that can occur, and how to identify them
  • Module 2: Duties of a Welding Inspector Before Signing-off a Product - Requirements of a welding inspector before, during, and after welding
  • Module 3: Weldability of Steels and Joining Dissimilar - Definition of the term weldability, characteristics of steel alloys and their cracking mechanisms
  • Module 4: Non-Destructive Testing - Basic insight into the main NDT methods that welding inspectors will encounter
  • Module 5: Destructive Testing/Quantitative and Qualitative - Destructive tests available to establish the mechanical properties and soundness of welded joints
  • Module 6: Welding Processes and Consumables - Main arc welding processes, the variables that affect them and their advantages and disadvantages
  • Module 7: Residual Stress and Distortion/PWHT - Causes of residual stress and distortion and how to prevent them
  • Module 8: Welding Symbols on Engineering Drawings - The different welding symbols that are used to symbolically represent weld joints
  • Module 9: Welding Inspection Assessment - Test on knowledge acquired from all the Welding Inspection modules
  • Module 10: NDT Reports - Various elements that should be included on different types of NDT reports
  • Module 11: Fracture Assessment - Different fracture mechanisms that may occur in welded joints and how to prepare detailed reports

What will I leave with?

This course will provide you with an overview of welding inspection-related content, including defects, duties, weldability, destructive and non-destructive testing, processes and consumables, assessment, reports, and more ahead of a retake or renewal examination.

What else should I know?

With the eLearning platform, you can track your progress and invest more time in the areas you need to while speeding through the areas where you have greater knowledge or confidence. The eLearning assessments are merely intended to test your knowledge and you will be able to relaunch each module and try again if you want to.

Once you have booked your eLearning course, you will receive an email notification with your login details. You will have 60 days from the date of purchase to complete the course.

While your course will be marked as complete once all modules have been passed, you can go back and revise any topic within the 60-day period. The eLearning course allows you to note any topics that you found difficult so you can highlight them to your classroom-based course tutor.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
This course is available to candidates who are eligible for the CSWIP Senior Welding Inspector initial exam as a resit or prior to their 10 year renewal examinations for re-certification.
