Successful Course Raises Demand for Welding Inspection Training in Eire

TWI’s Senior Welding Lecturer, Darren Jefferies was in Cork between 2 and 3 March 2020 to deliver a CSWIP Visual Inspection course to 21 attendees. The demand for this course was so high that we have added an extra date in Cork - 2-3 June - and it is already filling fast!

The attendees on the March course mainly came from one of two large engineering projects currently being carried out in Eire. The course attendance demonstrated a desire to upskill and improve key staff working on such projects.

The students were all attentive and engaged with the course materials, picking up the basics very quickly and achieving the required pass percentage during the training exercises. This was despite many of the trainees having very little welding or visual welding inspection knowledge while others had years of experience.

A CSWIP Welding Inspection qualification can open doors to rewarding and varied careers around the world, with many contractors now asking for CSWIP certification as a requirement for employment.

This qualification proves that you can work to a safe and professional standard, while also reducing the time and cost spent on rework or repairs and ensuring projects are delivered on time.

TWI also offers pre-course eLearning packages for both the CSWIP Welding Inspector and CSWIP Senior Welding Inspector courses that allow trainees the opportunity to get ahead and build up a foundation of knowledge before attending the full, classroom-based CSWIP welding inspection course.

There was a lot of positive feedback regarding the course and Darren’s lecturing:

“Darren was very knowledgeable and helpful.”

“I thought that Darren was very personable yet professional. Very capable at explaining.”

“[The] overall training programme was very informative and useful (both practical and theory sessions).”

“Good course – [with] the practical side I learned the most from my own mistakes - Darren explained everything very well.”

“Good quality course, knowledgeable instructor and good interaction with the group.”

Given the success of the training in Cork, more dates have been set for future training sessions in both Cork and Dublin:
