Is it for me?
The CSWIP Welding Inspector course is designed for inspection engineers and supervisory staff. Those with little or no previous welding experience are advised to attend the Certificate in Visual Inspection of Welds course to prepare for this course.
Everyone at TWI Training understands that we are undergoing challenging times around the world at the moment due to the COVID 19 pandemic. We appreciate that attending in-class courses is impossible in most countries due to restrictions on gatherings in order to protect everyone.
However, with this mind TWI is delivering online live courses, so that you can continue to improve your knowledge and expertise, wherever you are.
This CSWIP Welding Inspector Online live course is delivered in slightly different ways in TWI’s global training centres:
- The course content remains the same as a classroom-based course
- The student will be able to attend the theory training sessions, delivered by TWI Training Lecturers, via Zoom, WebEx or similar platforms
- The delivery of the practical aspects of the course differs depending on your region
- In all cases, the examination will take place, in the usual way, when the TWI Centres re-open post Covid-19.
Also available is a distance learning option with tutor support – CSWIP Welding Inspector Online course.

What will I learn?
This course will teach you the duties and responsibilities of a welding inspector including fusion welding processes, typical weld defects, types of steel (including carbon-manganese, low alloy and stainless steels), the hardening of steels, weldability, heat treatment, and parent metal defects.
The programme also includes visual inspection, the testing of parent metals and welds, and destructive and non-destructive test techniques.
You will also learn welder and procedure approval, codes and standards, and an outline of safe working practices.
There will also be the opportunity to practice examination questions while undergoing continuous and end-of-course assessment. If you meet the CSWIP requirements for eligibility, you will be able to complete the relevant CSWIP examination on day 5 of the course.
In addition, you can purchase TWI’s online CSWIP Welding Inspector Pre-Learning package which prepares them for the course.
